We like John Baldessari and we love the playful, meta-level storytelling; the dynamic editing; the whole colourful artsy vibe of this short film about him – such a good form!

KENZO’s films
Obviously I got also infected by the Kenzo virus, especially I like their “fashion films”. You can see the lastest ones above: One presenting the fall 2012 women’s wear collection which features the prints of Carl Burgess and Thomas Traum. I love that “trashy” marmor print on soft garments and the 3D render graphics in that one! The second one for the fall 2012 men’s collection is made by the great german creative “factory” Meiré and Meiré.

KENZO SS13 Score by Nicolas Godin
I just discovered the nice little “score” for Kenzo’s Spring Summer Menswear 2013 show made by Nicolas Godin of frenchdarling band AIR. Of course it’s a bit funky and jungle themed with much percussion.
The redesign of the brand Kenzo is anyway really fascinating. Designer duo Humberto and Carol from Opening Ceremony took certain characteristics of traditional Kenzo like the mix of patterns, the bright colours, the medaillon logo, the french x-factor and the folk worldliness / jungle / animal theme and buffed them up in perfection to create this hipster trendiness and the hype.
What I love most about their designs and the campains is the winking playfulness and the rigour that makes the difference between some random beautiful ideas and a very own fashion universe. You can have a bit of an idea and insight having a look at the blog Kenzine. This perfection of art direction makes the Kenzo creations very desirable, on the other hand things seem a bit too calculated so one might feel a bit too much like a sucker – but at least like a sucker for nice and intelligent designs.

Wild Nothing - Paradise (2012)
In the last years Youtube had the function now Spotify fulfills: Discovering new music, making easy shareable mixtapes. One of the best discoveries of these pre-Spotify times was the dreamy showgaze of Wild Nothing, it was featured in 2010’ summer mixtape. This summer came out their second album Nocturne which is also fabulously airy and fluffy.
The single Paradise is now released accompanied by a sweet and easy video directed by Matt Amato and featuring Michelle Williams, a flight over the clouds and the Niagara Falls. This perfect associative imaging reverbs the typical Wild Nothing mood instead by grainy retro film asthetic in digital pastel blurriness. It’s filmed with a Motorola Razr cellphone.
The imperfect, immediate and spontaneaous asthetic of cheap digital moving pictures really triggers me. Contemporary and retro 90s at the same time it reminds me of the revolution by the portable, more flexible cameras in the early 60s. It expresses zeitgeist. Fashion retailer COS made also a nice collection video using this digital technique last winter season and it totally didn’t look cheap. Unfortunately I can’t find it anymore.

The Harpoons’ soulful number Keep You Around was released late last year, yet is still making honey with a follow up video created and directed by the acclaimed Melbourne filmmaker Gen Bailey (I Am Eleven). The clip features all four band members sweating it out to the heart breaking lyrics of this RnB jam.
Keep your ears to the ground for the much anticipated debut album to be released by Two Bright Lakes later this year.
At the moment I’m so in love with this fancy new pop RnB stuff by the The Harpoons. Their catchy tune Keep you around also got a cute video, even though the editing is a bit strange. But somehow it also grows on me.
Their EP is so mood brighting: Warm and comfortable retro songwriting meets a crystalline, clean and fresh production – a combination I haven’t heard before so I’m very curious about their soon coming album.

Lust for classic sunnies: Oakley Frog Skins
Already in the rays of the first summer sun I’ve managed to scratch the lenses of my good old Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses badly. These babies already did their job (for now). After a couple of years and another thousand people wearing them I fancy to invest in new classic black sunglasses.
I’m not the fashion sunglasses type of girl and I also like to have them couple of seasons. I rather want to invest in high quality glasses than in a brands name. So I’m always looking for simple, cool models. Panto-formed glasses which I also really like don’t suit me, so I opt for big black wayfarer sunglasses without any decorations.
I also just love the look of unisex big sunnies in combination with delicate women’s faces. In that case you can go for sleek Italian chic (f.e. Persol) oder American 80s chic.
I went for some sporty Oakley Frogskins. Produced since 1984 in various colours the model with the strange name quickly became a symbol of pop culture. It’s also famous for the use of lighter and optically more foward materials.
Today I like their simple, lightweight frame and the pop edge and air of sportiness they give minimalistic or rather classic outfits. I totally see them working with a white shift dress or slim jeans and blazer jackets…
Always chic Kirsten Dunst might have thought the same. I got mine via MisterSpex – thanks for the great service. Ordering sunglasses online is definitely no problem if you buy classics…

Yesterday H&M invited to the preview of their Fall/Winter collection at a new Berlin based showroom.This fuzzy bordeaux coloured sweater and the matching leather skirt are among my favourites.
