I’m not a big Tom Ford fan but the trailer for his first movie A single man looks quite nice. He seems to be a Hitchcock and maybe also an Almodovar fan. We’ll have to figure that out soon.
Anyway it’s nothing super unusual if you switch from fashion to film. There has always been a close relationship between fashion and film. Many investors and creatives of the early Hollywood had been working in fashion before. Maybe that’s why Classical Hollywood is so in love with surfaces or maybe fashion people just were the first to realize what’s one of the biggest qualities of the medium.
